See, here's the thing. I really like John Winchester. I think he's a fascinating guy, and given the chance to have a normal life with his wife and sons, I think he's the type of guy who would've had coffee mugs from his family that said things like "World's Greatest Dad" on them. But my favorite disclaimer about John I've ever read came from one of Ridley C. James' stories, "Toy Soldiers," and it said, "I love him, but he is portrayed in all his raging glory in this tale." My later fics, after Mary's death, will have that version of John. The pre-series fics will have the more carefree version.
This takes place later in the same evening as "The Upshot of Dark and Stormy Nights".
